Good questions, straight answers

Your Questions, Answered

What's the deal with pricing on a drain job?

We look at the job and put a fixed dollar figure on it before we start. Once you've agreed to that price, it stays put, no matter what the drain turns out to need.

What does "$65 off your first service" cover?

First-time customers see $65 knocked straight off whatever the job costs. It shows on the quote before you agree to anything, not buried afterward.

How do I pay?

Card or the usual methods, settled once the job's finished. The figure you saw on the quote is the figure on the invoice.

What does "best price guaranteed" actually mean?

Show us a like-for-like quote and we'll match it. It's there so nobody overpays simply because they didn't shop around.

Are you a licensed, insured plumber?

Licence #292427C, insurance current, and both water and gas covered under the one ticket.

Who actually turns up?

Whoever's rostered on is genuinely part of the crew, never outside labour brought in for the day. That includes a specialist who mostly handles the jobs other plumbers hand back.

What does the lifetime labour warranty cover?

Whatever we did with our hands, guaranteed while you're in the property. Should it fail down the track through our workmanship, we're back to sort it, no charge.

Is it worth trying to clear a blocked drain myself?

One go with a plunger won't hurt. Skip the chemical cleaners and hire-shop eels though, they tend to wreck older pipework, and a drain that won't stay clear needs someone to find the actual cause.

What sort of turnaround should I expect on a blocked drain?

Same-day is the usual outcome, and urgent calls jump the queue. Most Mascot properties are sorted before the day's out.

Are you really open 24 hours?

Around the clock, and a human picks up every time. No answering machine fielding your 2am call.

Are weekends and public holidays covered too?

Saturdays, Sundays and long weekends run on the same booking system as any other day. A blocked drain has no interest in what the calendar says.

What happens after I call?

A quick chat about what's happening, a time locked in, then a straight answer on what's wrong once we've had a look. No hard sell over the phone.

Which suburbs does your run cover?

Mascot sits at the middle of the patch, which runs out to Botany, Eastlakes, Wolli Creek, Tempe and Pagewood.

Why do heavy downpours set my drains off again?

The catchment here was reclaimed swampland, sitting low enough that the main drains overflow whenever a downpour coincides with a high tide. When that happens, the flow reverses and forces water and debris back up your own pipes.

Is a blocked sewer my problem to fix, or Sydney Water's?

The private line running from your house to the connection point is on you to maintain. Past that boundary, it's Sydney Water's territory. Not always obvious from the surface, so we check it on arrival if you're unsure.

Why do older Mascot homes keep getting blockages?

A good number of the surviving pre-war houses here were plumbed with earthenware sewer lines, and age has taken a toll on the joints. Once a joint perishes, tree roots and debris find their way in, and the blockage becomes a repeat visitor rather than a one-off.
